My Pyramid, Your Pyramid
Well, here it is. The new USDA food guide pyramid. It's on an interactive web site that let's you personalize it, as least somewhat. I think it has 12 versions, not 200 million. How they are going to reach those who don't do internet or don't want to take the time to work the site isn't clear yet. Doesn't seem to me we will be seeing the generic version on so many cereal boxes. Always remember that the food industry has one main goal: to sell food. This is not to say they don't want us all to be slim and healthy, but business is business, and a lot more food is produced than the population needs. And the USDA's mission is to support the food industry. So while there is info on what we should eat, don't expect a lot of specifics on what we shouldn't eat. I'll have a lot more to say on the pyramid in later posts. Its url is www.mypyramid.gov. Check it out.
Bon apetite.
